About us
French Cab Car is a private passenger transport company founded by French Cab Car in 2013. We drive to and from the French Alps ski resorts, departing from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry, Grenoble and Turin airports. One driver, one car, one fixed price given before departure.
1 · Who actually drives your car
French Cab Car was created by French Cab Car in 2013, and he still drives himself. The company is registered in France under SIREN 798 006 722 and operates as a private hire vehicle (VTC), with the professional insurance and the driver's licence card the law requires.
The team has grown since: we are now ten drivers covering the season, for more than 2,500 transfers every winter. All are professional passenger transport drivers, not casual drivers hired for the winter. This is not a platform, not a booking centre reselling your journey to the lowest bidder: when you call, you reach the company that will actually drive you.
“More than ten years driving the same roads is not something an app replaces.”
Our entry in the private hire vehicle register carries the number EVTC093172116. Anyone can verify it on the official register kept by the French ministry of transport.
2 · What “knowing the mountain” means
Between Geneva airport and Tignes there are 180 kilometres and 2,100 metres of climb. The last 40 kilometres decide everything: that is where the road narrows, where the hairpins come one after another, where the surface goes from dry to black ice in three bends, and where a school-holiday Saturday turns a one-hour drive into two and a half.
All our drivers are experienced and take these roads throughout the season. In practice, that means:
- Knowing when to leave. On changeover Saturday we shift the departure rather than sit stuck in the climb out of Moûtiers.
- Knowing which way to go. The Iseran, the Petit-Saint-Bernard and the Galibier close in winter; our route calculation accounts for it automatically and goes through the tunnel rather than over a closed pass.
- Knowing how fast to drive. In snow we drive at 30 km/h if that is what it takes. Our price already includes that extra time: nobody will rush you to make the journey pay.
- Knowing where the car stops. Many chalet addresses cannot be reached by a standard car in January. We know that before setting off, not at your door.
A driver who comes up only three times a winter does not have that knowledge. It is not a lack of professionalism: it is simply a different job, and ours is this one.
Winter equipment obligations, municipality by municipality, are published by the French road safety authority.

5 · Door-to-door and chalet-to-chalet transfers
Most services stop at the resort car park. We go to the door: chalet, residence, hotel, apartment. Bags are carried down and set by the entrance, whatever time you arrive.
We also do what almost nobody wants to do: journeys within the resort and between resorts. Dinner in Val d'Isère when you are staying in Tignes, a change of chalet mid-stay, an evening in Méribel from Courchevel, a ride back after a day skiing in another valley.
Those journeys do not book well online. They depend on the exact time, the state of the road, the precise chalet address, and they are often decided the same day. By far the simplest: send us the address on WhatsApp. You get a firm price within minutes, and a car straight after.
6 · Our eight commitments
- The price quoted is the price paid. No meter, no last-minute surcharge, no “luggage supplement” discovered on arrival.
- Your flight is tracked in real time. If you land two hours late, your driver is there two hours later, at no extra cost.
- 1 hr 30 of waiting included after landing. Baggage reclaim and customs time is already counted.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup.
- A greeting in person. The driver waits in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name and carries the bags to the vehicle.
- One journey, yours. Never pooled with other customers, never a detour via another resort.
- Winter equipment as standard from November to April: winter tyres and chains on board, in every vehicle.
- Six languages. French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian and Arabic, on the site as on the phone.
7 · How our prices are built
On common routes, an airport to a resort, the price is a fixed fare, decided in advance, identical whatever the traffic. On other journeys the price is worked out from the real road distance, then confirmed before you pay anything.
Only three things can change the amount, and they are stated on the booking page: the vehicle chosen, high season (school holidays and the end-of-year period), and the weekend on certain resort-to-resort routes. Nothing else is added.
“A customer who discovers the real price on arrival never comes back. It is bad arithmetic, even in the short term.”
8 · What we do not do
Better said plainly, it saves disappointment:
- We do not take passengers without a prior booking: French law forbids it for private hire vehicles, only taxis may be hailed or wait at a rank.
- We do not share a vehicle between several bookings, even to lower the price.
- We do not yet serve Paris or the French Riviera during the winter season; those markets will open later.
- We store no bank details: payment goes through Stripe, a PCI-DSS certified provider, and we never see your card number.
What our customers say
We do not write testimonials ourselves and we do not copy them from elsewhere. The only reviews we display are those our customers post on our Google listing, under their own name and verifiable by anyone.
